IEEE Student Branch of Piraeus University of Applied Sciences (P.U.A.S.)
The IEEE of P.U.A.S. Student branch was founded in the the beginning of the year 2011. It was a joint initiative of a little more than a handful of students from different faculties that shared a common goal. The establishment of our very own student branch that carries the name of IEEE, the world's leading professional association for the advancement of technology. It is located at the facilities of P.U.A.S. and at the present time serves the students of the following faculties:
- Electronic Computer Systems Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Automation Engineering
- Electronic Engineering
- Textiles Engineering
What is yet to be done is to welcome our colleagues from the rest of the engineering faculties of our institute to our branch. Why wait when you can join in?!
The Technological Education Institute of Piraeus is one of the twelve independent and selfgoverned Τ.Ε.Ι. that along with universities, constitute the national system of higher education in Greece, according to Greek Laws 2916/2001 and 3549/2007. Τ.Ε.Ιs are distinguished from traditional universities in Greece due to their technological orientation. The degrees obtained, along with those of Greek universities, are the only higher education degrees offered by schools operating within Greece recognized by the Greek state and EU. TEI and university graduates can continue their studies at a postgraduate level, under the same terms.
Here at the Student Branch of TEI of Piraeus we share the vision of the Global organization of IEEE. In a few words our cause is focused in promoting the ideas of researching and development to our student members and to accompany them in their course of developing from students to full grown Engineers.
It's always important to have goals but what's equally important is having the ideas needed to carry them out. Our main activities at the moment consist of:
- Organizing conferences, lectures and seminars
- Company visits
- Student Paper Contests
- Organizing Meetings...etc
